Membership meetings are held the first Monday of every month at 7:30 in our BINGO hall. Meetings are held to discuss the business of the department, voting on motions, accepting members on probation, operational and administrative updates from various committees. The organization has many committees, some require members to be voted in while others accept those interested.
Becoming a volunteer means becoming part of a family and establishing new friendships that will last a lifetime. It means serving your community in one of the highest capacities by providing critical services to the community and its citizens when they need it most. Volunteers must look beyond themselves to dedicate the time and effort involved in volunteering, however, the reward you receive cannot be measured in any form. For most…. it’s a passion.
The LOSAP program was established to provide active volunteers a monthly stipend after they have completed twenty-five years of service meeting the minimum requirements. Active volunteers accrue points through calls, fundraising events, training, and various other company events. More information will be provided to accepted applicants.
Active members who are Maryland residents with at least three years of service are eligible for a $4,000 tax credit.
Volunteers are provided an extensive amount of training throughout their volunteer career. All training is provided free of charge either through the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI) or through our department. It typically takes a new volunteer, with no prior qualifications or training, approximately one year to become fully trained as a firefighter and/or an EMT.
Have prior training and experience? Let us know! Please provide certificates of your training and we will evaluate them.
All gear including pants, coat, boots, gloves, helmets, hoods and other associated gear is provided free of charge to active volunteers.
