MGVFC Cadets Get Up Close & Personal With Search and Rescue
On Wednesday, April 4th three of our cadets Madison, Mackenzie, and Anna got more than they were expecting during our bimonthly cadet training. We decided to introduce them to search and rescue. Initially, the group discussed how and when to do searches, the different types of searches, and what to do when you find a victim. Next, they set out to work on their skills, with covered SCBA face pieces, showing natural talent we moved a step further and placed a dummy to simulate three rescues giving each one a chance to lead a search crew. All three young ladies showed impressive skills and quickly searched the room, performed a rescue, and led the crew back out. Great work ladies!
The MGVFC holds cadet training twice a month on Wednesday evenings. Cadets are 12-15 years old and receive an introduction to every aspect of the fire service. Training sessions familiarize cadets to give them a jump on skills prior to enrolling in classes as they move along in their careers.
If you know someone 12-15 years old interested in the fire service visit our cadet’s page for more information and to submit an application. Prior to membership, interested cadets and their parents must attend an information session. If you have questions regarding our cadet program please contact Ryan Woods or drop us a line using our online contact form.
