Mobile Home Fire on William Talcott Lane
SMOKE DETECTORS SAVE LIVES!
On July 8, 2023, units were dispatched for a mobile home fire on William Talcott Lane. Deputy Chief 13 responded and assumed command. Upon arrival smoke and flames were coming from under the trailer on the south side and heavy smoke throughout the trailer. All occupants were out of the home. E13-2 laid supply from hydrant at Pennsylvania Avenue and Showalter Road. Rescue Squad 13 crews deployed a hand line to attack the fire under the trailer while an additional hand line was pulled to check for interior extension. Addition units from Longmeadow Volunteer Fire Company, Rescue Hose Company 1, Hagerstown Fire Department, Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Company, Medic 759 and manpower assisted with ventilation and checking for extension under the trailer. Rehab 252 and Air Unit 252 were also on site. Crews made quick work of the fire, limiting interior damage and saving all of the homeowners belongings.
Occupants were sleeping at the time and were awoken by the sound of the smoke detector. That along with the neighbors saved 2 occupants and their pet. Great work by all involved!
